Koti Hu, the Next Generation Worship Leader at Westminster Chapel church in Bellevue, is improving after he suffered a broken neck and spinal injuries when he was rear-ended on an I-405 on-ramp nearly three weeks ago. Mr. Hu is currently rehabilitating his injuries and his condition seems to be improving.

In many cases of brain and spinal injuries, the injured person will likely incur damages for a long (or sometimes indefinite) period of time. Rehabilitation might take months, if not years. Continuing care is often necessary. Persons injured in an accident are not only entitled to the damages already incurred, but also to a reasonable estimation of what the damages will be in the future. The objective is to place the injured person in the same position he or she would be in if the accident hadn't happened--which includes compensation for the medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life that he or she will continue to incur in the future.

It is important to note, however, that although damages may be incurred for some time to come, injured persons should not wait to see what those damages might be before pursuing a claim. "Statutes of limitations" provide bars to claims that are not brought in the applicable time period (varying on the type of claim), and they are nearly always strictly enforced.
