The driver of a Honda Civic was killed in a head-on collision with a Metro Bus Tuesday morning. The accident occurred on State Route 169 near Renton, Washington. Apparently, the driver of the Civic hit the bus head-on while attempting to pass slower trucks.

The driver of a southbound Honda Civic apparently tried to pass several dump trucks but couldn't get back into the southbound lanes in time. The Honda hit the bus nearly head-on.

If any passengers of the bus were injured, they have two possible avenues of legal redress. First, even though the driver of the Civic died, injured passengers still have a potential claim under the driver's liability insurance policy and his estate. Second, Metro Buses are "common carriers" and thus are liable for even the slightest negligence. If the Metro driver failed to avoid the accident in any way, then the County can be liable for the passengers' injuries.
