A 21-year-old Oregon woman died at the scene of an early morning car crash Saturday in the 3800 block of Seabeck Highway near Calamity Lane Northwest.

Vanessa Taylor, of Milwaukie, Ore., was riding in the passenger seat of a 1989 BMW 325 just after 2 a.m. when the driver, 21-year-old Joshua Demers of Silverdale, failed to make the curve near Camp Wesley Harris and drove off the edge of the road, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.

This is a tragic situation. It would be made even more tragic if Ms. Taylor's family did not initiate a probate so that her wrongful death claim can be pursued.

I FEEL REAL SAD I JUST FOUND OUT FROM FELLOW CLASSMATES THAT SHE DIED WE WENT TO COLLEGE WITH HER AND I GOT TO KNOW HER THIS HAS BEEN HARD FOR ME TOO.

Vanessa Taylor was a wonderful person with a big heart! She was like an older sister to me. I love her so much and she will never be forgotten, this was and still is a tragic moment!

The accident was a terrible tragedy, I hope forgiveness and compassion will help all involved to find peace. Josh Demers is a good person with a loving heart. One life was taken already but it is my hope that the rest can move forward.

Josh is a good guy and Vanessa will always be missed. She was an amazing girl, and he was always a great friend. This is a horrible thing that happened ...
